Wille Scobie is an illustrator based in Brighton, England. Who approaches illustration with the idea of the continuous line. His style could be recognized as simplicity on steroids. The clean lines connect with the playful and optimistic perspective to help communicate the his Ideas clearly (No worries Willie we wont check to see if your juicing). It was last year that my eyes randomly found themselves gazing upon a never ending line that linked me to Scobies portfolio. As I loopty looped thought the material I found some of the most astounding and fun filled art work .To me that it was almost like a remixed game of connect the dots with no pencil ,instead your eyes pick a starting point and follows a never ending tangent through twists and turns all to see the final picture . Im sure I floated through Scobies projects for about and hour before I realized that I kept looking at one project over and over again .I was a few travel illusions that he put together for the London Monocle , a magazine that explains them self to be a global briefing on international affairs, business, culture and design.
Scobie was commission to create set of 10 illustrations for the magazines transport survey, conveying all the commuting and transportation anomalies across the globe. Which was fairly easy for the illustration because looking throughout his portfolio illustrating different styles of transportation seems to be his thing hence the moving Ghostal Express( Above)(click it it moves) . The Continuous line style of line drawing has been around for centuries; you may see a few continuous line illustrations from different designers every now and again but none use it as their defining style the way Scobie does. Check for more images(below) from his commissioned work for Monocle and then slide over to his online portfolio to see more of his Lovely line work .
